Terms & Conditions: BPP Apprenticeship Accountancy Scholarship

The BPP Scholarship is a prestigious award offered annually to students wishing to begin a career in accounting. The scholarship provides support and training to help the scholars complete their exams in either; Accounting, Audit, Tax or Management Accounting. This document details the support BPP will provide and what is expected of the scholar. The scholar is an ambassador for BPP's organisation and, as such, will be expected to set an example amongst peers and current students whilst on BPP premises. This includes: Completing all assignments and exams in a timely manner, punctual attendance for all classroom-based learning, compliance with BPP's code of conduct at all times, adherence to BPP induction information.

Studying

BPP will provide the winning applicant with all necessary classroom tuition to allow them to complete a Level 2/3 AAT Apprenticeship (if required), a level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in: Accounting (AAT), Audit/Accounting (ICAEW), Management Accounting (CIMA) or Tax (ATT). Then subsequently their choice of professional qualification upto Chartered/Technician Status of: ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIOT.

For the apprenticeship qualification, BPP will provide the scholar with free tuition and exam preparation courses for each paper. If the scholar fails an exam, BPP will allow the scholar to attend a free exam preparation course. If the scholar fails again, a free exam preparation course may be offered again (at the discretion of the local centre). On completion of the apprenticeship qualification, the selected scholar will be expected to complete their chosen professional accounting qualification within five years.

When studying for their professional qualification, the scholar will be given free tuition, revision and question-based day per paper (if applicable). If they are unsuccessful in the exam, BPP will provide the scholar with a free revision course to be taken in the subsequent sitting.

Employment

BPP will assist the scholar in finding a job through the Recruitment Service and will also support them in the preparation of their CV and covering letters. Scholars are also expected to apply for suitable positions. The scholarship winner is expected to observe the employer's terms and conditions and work for their employer to the best of their ability. Should the selected scholar be dismissed from employment due to non-compliance with the employer's policies and procedures, BPP will not assist in placing the scholar in alternative employment. BPP expects the chosen scholar to behave in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety legislation at all times whilst in employment or training. The scholar must adhere to their employers' training policy. This will detail the method of preferred study, any study leave that you may be entitled to and other terms and conditions of the employer's training policy. The employer's training policy will be discussed with the scholar by Training Manager.

Exam fees and student registration

No fees payable to the professional institutes (AAT, CIMA for example) will be covered by BPP.

The admission fee and annual student membership fee will only be paid by BPP if the scholar is aged 16-18. Once the scholar becomes 19 years old, the scholar's employer or the scholar must pay these fees. Please note the admission fee is a one-off cost and the student membership fee must be paid on an annual basis and will be subject to change.

If the scholar is between the ages of 16-18, all relevant computer based tests (CBTs) will be paid for by BPP. When the scholar is 19 or over, the CBTs will be paid for by the scholar's employer or by the scholar (refer to the employer's training policy).

Professional Institution fees (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ATT or ICAEW)

The scholar's employer or the scholar will also be responsible for paying the registration fee and annual student fees for their chosen professional qualification (prices vary depending on the qualification). If the scholar is eligible for exemptions, exemption fees will not be paid by BPP Financial. On completion of the professional qualification, the scholar will apply for membership. This cost will not be paid by BPP. PER points demonstrating experience are required for full membership and qualified status which are the winners’ responsibility to gain.
